I am excited to be participating in the Show Your Wings Blog Hop, hosted by Carol of Just Let Me Quilt!  It has been great to see all the different ideas for each day of the hop, and I'm ready to share mine :) [drum roll]. . .

When I first thought of "Show Your Wings" it kind of reminded me of the Red Bull slogan - "Red Bull gives you wings"
So I tried think - what gives me wings???  What puts the wind in my sails. . . hmm.  It was a bit difficult to come up with something. I am CRAZY busy lately - working full-time, going to school full-time, being a wife and mother 24/7 - some days I don't know if I'm coming or going.  I do have one guilty pleasure though that I really look forward to, and it helps me recharge (grinning sheepishly and rubbing my hands together) -- early Saturday mornings -- around 5 or 6 am before anyone else gets up -- I turn my brain off and catch up with my DVR.  In the quiet.  Just me and french bulldog Roxy, and my coffee.  What is the first thing I catch up on, you ask??  Well, that's easy - The Walking Dead.  You either love it or you hate it.  I love it.  Oh yeah, and for those who've never watched, it's not about the zombies.  :)

I had some fabric left over from a cross-body bag I made for a customer, so I thought my iPad needed a new cozy. Flutter, flutter . . .

So I have and have had many favorite characters from the show over the years, but I must confess I do love me some Daryl Dixon . . .
Let's face it  - does anything say Walking Dead like Mr. Dixon?  And what could say Daryl better than his crossbow, or his winged vest. . .

So - chop chop, to the chopping block with my axe. . . oops! I mean my cutting board with my rotary!! I used some blood red for the lining, and some flex foam instead of batting for stability.  I found a piece of scrap that looks like crackled paint - yep that will do...

measured up, and checking for size

So I used the crackled scrap to cut out my wings, and I like them!

I do a few runs around the picture frames, and along the wings to make sure they are secure - then I give the edges of the wings a good roughing up to fray them some, because seriously . . . it's Daryl!

Now I just finishing with black bias binding.

I do the top and bottom edges first then I fold the bottom edge up to make the pocket and close both sides with the binding.

uh, yep, it fits!
I added a button and elastic closure, quick and easy.

And the iPad cover is finished!

I'd like to thank Carol for hosting this blog hop, and giving me an excuse to cut up some more of this fabric!

Please hop by and see the other bloggers projects for today!
