Ringing in the New Year!

I have been enjoying the Twilight Zone Marathon since I got up this morning. New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are typically the only two days of the year that I am completely selfish! I have survived the holiday cooking, gift buying and wrapping, traveling and visiting, and cleaning up - so this is it . . . my last 2 days before I return to work.

I have continued working on my African Peels.  I sewed them to strips of the light weight fusible - Pellon P44F

Then clipped and turned - all ready to be ironed to the background:

Once I've ironed them on to the background, I sew them to the background block...

Its time for a break and a snack!  Some chips an guac :)  I take a moment to line a few blocks up and admire them...

Love, Love, Love!

Wishing you a wonderful, productive New Year!

Welcoming 2019!

It's funny, I've always been so busy making for others that I've never made a quilt for myself!  Never, never, never.  Well, 2019 is the year.  I have had my eye on this beauty I saw on Pinterest for a while now . . .

I've been dying to make it using my African fabric scraps.

I am just passed the halfway point - a little more cutting to go!

I am hoping to have my cutting done soon to make my love for this project even better... I plan on spending New Year's watching my FAV - Twilght Zone Marathon while I applique my peels! [SCREAM!]  I look forward to the marathon every year - it's my favorite part of ringing in the New Year!

Whatchu got brewin' for the New Year - learning any new techniques? I'd love to know!
